Imagine a world where no one ever suffered and no bad things ever happened. Everyone was just and fair. Hope would be there. Doubt, fear, and disappointment would not.
A fairy tale? No, far from it. It’s an accurate description of how God created the world. It was perfect and good. God placed the first two people, Adam and Eve, into His newly created world.
Sin Destroys Hope
In spite of having a perfect environment, Adam and Eve rebelled against God’s wise rule. All mankind has followed this disregard for God’s absolute authority. “All we like sheep have gone astray” (Isaiah 53:6).
After their initial act of defiance, Adam and Eve lost hope. As they hid from God, they met fear, doubt, and disappointment. We have followed the same path.
Determined to make our own way, we have ignored or defied God’s ways. One day, God will show everyone that He is the only true King. And on that day, everyone who has rejected Him will be punished in hell forever. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews 9:27)
Hope for the Fallen
You might think that God would abandon His creation for rejecting His rule. However, not all hope is lost. God pursues His fallen creation. He’s pursuing you today.
Because He is so loving, God has done something to rescue us from the punishment we deserve. God sent His own Son, Jesus, into the world. Jesus never sinned. And so He didn’t deserve to be punished like the rest of us. But Jesus was killed on a cross. God loved us so much that He punished his own Son Jesus instead of us. Hope is alive because Christ rose from the dead! He conquered sin and death!
Finding Hope in Christ
You can choose to reject God or receive forgiveness for your sins by turning to Christ. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!
