What to Expect

Visiting any church for the very first time can make anyone a little nervous. Where do I go? What do I wear? What time do I show up? What’s here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions can come to your mind. Well, we want to put you at ease.

Anchor is a young, growing church in Covina. We want your first visit to Anchor to be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience helpful teaching and preaching of God’s Word, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home!” Here are a few answers to your questions about what you might expect on your first visit.

What should I wear?

There is not a dress code at Anchor Baptist Church. Our pastor and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress. However, a specific attire is not required for you to join us. We think it makes sense to wear nice, clean, modest clothing to church. As long as you do that you will not feel out of place.

Do you have a nursery?

Yes. Nursery is provided during all services for children 3 years of age and under. There’s also a junior church on Sunday mornings. Find out more on the Kids page.

What are your services like?

Our services are what is commonly called “traditional.” The worship music primarily is great hymns of the faith as well as some choruses. We have special music from members of the congregation on occasion. The focus of all of our meetings is the Word of God. Generally, we will have prayer, several hymns, a message from the Bible, an offering and announcements, and a closing hymn.

Do visitors have to stand up and say anything?

No, you sure don’t. Our weekly bulletin contains a connection card and we do ask you to drop it in the offering at the end of the service so we can have a record of your visit.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

At the conclusion of every Sunday morning service an offering is collected. These gifts from our church family fund the local ministry and the global outreach through our missions program. You are welcome to participate, but we don’t invite you to Anchor Baptist Church for your offering.

Other questions?
